Peri-clitoral Abscess. A Case Report of a Gynecological Rarity
Introduction
Background: Peri-clitoral abscess, in isolation of infection ofsurroundinggynecological structures, is rare.
Objectives
Objective: To discuss the best medical / surgical practices for a patient with aperi-clitoral abscess (PCA) .
Case
Case report: 46-year-old, pain and difficulty ambulating, mass to externalgenitalia -clitoral hood. Management: incision and drainage, broad-spectrumantibiotics, and analgesia.
Method
Method: Descriptive narrative of history and management. Literature reviewwithanalysis of best medical / surgical practices.
Conclusion
Conclusion: PCA is an isolated / localized infection with encapsulationandsubsequent purulent collection of the clitoral hood. Management is guided by physician experience, resource availabilityandconvenience. Medical management is supportive, surgicalmanagement isrecommended.
