The Effectiveness of Training Primary Care Doctors Using the Grieg’s Record Foryoung Adults Between 18 and 24 Years

Introduction

Health assessment is especially advantageous for young individuals who
are more prone to suffer from mental illness, substance abuse, sexually transmitted
infections, and risky conduct.

Objectives

Investigate the impact of training and implementation of Greig’s Health
Assessment on the perception of young adult disease prevention and health promotion
among Primary Care Physicians and to assess whether Greig’s record has helped improve
time management and the quality of health care doctors provide.

Method

This study used a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and
quantitative data collection techniques. The study included family medicine registrars,
residents, and general practitioners from primary care centers in Central Georgetown.
Twenty physicians volunteered to participate-13 females and seven males. The survey ran
from September 2023 until December 2023. Ethical approval was granted. The data was
analyzed using Microsoft Office Excel.

Results

The study discovered that screening and documentation requirements differed
across providers. Current practices for young adults among research participants
include 65% immunization, 50% mental and sexual health, 45% symptomatic screening,
30% HEEADSSS, 25% BMI, 30% family planning, and 5% substance abuse. 85.5% of the
respondents were unaware of Greig’s record. According to our findings, all of the study
participants agreed that Greig’s health record assisted them in managing their time and
providing high-quality care to young adult patients.

Conclusion

Different methods are used for health checks and their quality varies.
Doctors perform health checks according to how they feel about preventive care.

Recommendations

Implementation of clinical guidelines is merited.
